Introduction
ClassNK RuleViewer is a newly developed “digital version” of the ClassNK Rules and Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships that allows users not only to efficiently and easily search and browse the Rules and Guidance online using their web browsers, but also to access individual requirements and associated information (e.g. technical backgrounds, amendment histories) in a database format.
The following features offer improved readability and time saving with respect to finding desired information in comparison to more traditional PDF and paper-based formats.
- Displaying the Rules and their corresponding Guidance side by side
- Links to the referenced Rules and Guidance
- Displaying the application conditions of the Rules and Guidance (date of application, ship type, etc.)*
* Information on the applicable conditions of Rules and Guidance is presently only available as a trial feature since only some parts of the Rules and Guidance can be searched and referenced. We do, however, intend to gradually expand this feature to the remaining Rules and Guidance as part of its future development in accordance with feedback received from users.
